This is the granddaddy and the first book I suggest when asked for book suggestions. It doesn't tell you how to make money, but clearly helps you learn how to think about money. It has sold millions and helped thousands begin their journey to financial freedom.

Robert Kiyosaki. Okay, so number two is also a Kiyosaki book and for good reason. This is a perfect companion to Rich Dad Poor Dad. In this book you learn it is how you make your money that counts, not necessarily how much you make. After you read these two, you can branch off into whatever suits your personality and needs.

This book could have gone in Real Estate or Personal Finance. I placed it here because the first half of the book is an excellent tutorial in personal finance. The second half is more specific to the “how” of buying some real estate. Another best-seller.

Ken McElroy started his career as a property manager and later acquired and managed roughly 10,000 apartment units. His book is a great “How To” book for real estate. He provides numbers, lists and techniques that are time tested. Like any good book, it starts with mindset.

Ken’s follow-up book goes into more detail for the person that wants to create their passive income through real estate. It focuses primarily on apartments, but the concepts work for all property types.
